Child Absence without Notice. In line with guidance from The City of Edinburgh Council, we ask all parents to notify us of any planned absences.
In the event of an unexpected absence, the following procedure will be carried out. The purpose of this is designed to protect children in emergency situations.
If contact has not been made by the parent by 9.30am on the first morning of an unexpected absence then staff from the setting will try to contact the parent on the telephone number given. If staff are unable to make contact, they will then move onto the other Emergency contact numbers as a matter of course. A register of staff actions will be logged in the daily register.
In the event that staff are unable to make contact with either the parents of other emergency contacts, then the manager will implement the Child Protection Policy and a referral under this policy will be made within one week of the first date of absence. These follow up actions will be recorded on the Child Protection Referral/Disclosure form held within the Manager's office.
